Will you be my Valentine?

Feb 08, 2010 | by Gillian FitzGerald

Personalized arts, crafts and printables to make Valentines more special (and keep the piggybank full)

There's nothing more exciting than receiving something on Valentines Day. Or seeing the delight of someone you give something to. Kids love it. We all love it. It makes us feel special.

Showing you care is more about effort than how much you spend. Which is why we sourced a great selection of free Valentines themed activities, crafts and printables to keep you or the kids busy this month.
There's a lot of Valentines arts and crafts scattered out there, but these three sites offer hands down the best and most varied selection I've seen to date. Have fun!

Nick Jr

Pop-out heart card

Nick Jr has a wonderful selection of cute cards, recipes and mobiles guaranteed to delight your child. Dora the Explorer mobiles, 3-D pop-out cards and love-themed fridge magnets are just a few of the more different ideas available. But it's not just for kids. The wide range of heart or love themed recipes for cookies, tarts, pancakes and even soups, is a winner for any romantic dinner, breakfast or lunchbox.

Activity Village

Origami heart

A huge range of Valentines themed activities to keep your child enthralled. Puzzles, mazes, coloring-in pages and cards are just a few of the things you can expect to find. I personally liked the origami heart, where you can hide a special message inside, as well as the worm bookmark felt up of felt hearts - the perfect gift for mum or dad! Not as pretty as Nick Jr, but Activity Village makes up for it in content.

Disney

Handmade heart soaps

Disney has a superb range of Valentines' crafts are available here - Disney themed pop-up cards, candy boxes, charm bracelets, home-made heart soaps and paper daisies just to name a few. Like Nick Jr., this is not for kids alone, so don't be surprised if you want to do a few things yourself!
